MAYA
Channel four, standby. Nothing out there tonight.
She reaches for the flask. A carrier tone rises out of the hiss — clean, deliberate, wrong.
MAYA
(to herself)
That's not a carrier.
The VU needle climbs. A voice arrives underneath it. Her voice.
MAYA (V.O.)
Maya. Listen to me. You have seventy-two hours.
Maya does not move. The tape keeps turning.
